A Dream Trip to Churchhaven

A Dream Trip to Churchhaven

A few weeks ago, we had the privilege of hosting a truly unforgettable press trip to Churchhaven, primarily to show off our beautiful properties, but also to showcase the very best of the West Coast, from vineyard views to wildflower wonders.

Day 1: From Sky to Sea

Our journey began in style, our media guests gathered at Signature Aviation Hangar for an exclusive helicopter flip around Cape Town with Pilot Donovan Randall, ending at Groote Post Vineyards. An exhilarating start to this carefully curated experience.

On arrival, a farm drive introduced us to the rich history and natural beauty of Groote Post, where we felt at every corner the passion and commitment of all those who make up this historic winery. This was followed by a leisurely wine tasting and charcuterie board - a taste of true West Coast hospitality.

Our guests were then transferred to Slipway Cottage in Churchhaven, nestled right on the Langebaan Lagoon. Guests had the option to unwind or try stand-up paddling before gathering for sundowners and dinner by chef, Louise Wessels. All meals were thoughtfully thought through, with this dinner including mussels and fish sourced through Abalobi. The evening ended with deep chats and reflections on the day.

Day 2: Wildflowers & West Coast Flavours

After a relaxed breakfast overlooking the lagoon, we set off for a guided wildflower experience in Postberg, West Coast National Park. Led by botanist Rupert Koopman, this immersive walk brought the landscape to life - a true highlight of spring.

A picnic prepared by our private chef in the reserve was the perfect pause to sit and take in the surroundings, while sipping on Stellenzicht Cap Classique.

Back at Slipway Cottage, guests enjoyed a live pasta making demonstration with Louise while sipping on Negroni’s. The day closed with sundowners, a beautifully curated dinner (including the pasta) outside with candles, and chats under the stars.

Day 3: Culture & Connection

Our final morning was slow, while we took in the beauty of Churchhaven for one last time. Some enjoyed a dip in the lagoon and some a leisurely walk to view the flamingos who were close by. Our journey continued to !Khwa ttu, which is located on the R27, halfway between Langebaan and Cape Town. Here a guided San tour gave powerful insight into the history and traditions of the First People. After a nourishing and beautifully presented lunch, it was time to head back to Cape Town - hearts full and spirits high.

What Made This Trip Special

Every detail was considered, from helicopter flights to locally sourced meals and West Coast wines. Guests left not only with beautiful memories but also with a deeper connection to the magic of Churchhaven and its surroundings.

This was more than a press trip - it was a celebration of place, people, and the simple joy of slowing down by the lagoon.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible and played their part in this incredible adventure!
